THE RETURN OF "THE ALLEGORICAL ECLOGUES": NEW EDITION 2024.
NOW ALSO AVAILABLE IN ENGLISH
Exactly ten years after the first publication in Italy of 'Le Ecloghe Allegoriche' by Albatros il Filo, this collection of short stories is now available again, in a new edition, on the Amazon platform.
'The Allegorical Eclogues' were Simon Thomas Possenti's first book, published in May 2014, when the author was only eighteen years old.
There are many new features in this 2024 edition, starting with the English translation. The stories, originally written in Italian when S. T. Possenti was between twelve and eighteen years old, have recently been translated by the author himself.
A new and updated 'Foreword' by the author enriches this new edition of the book, providing not only some reading lines and insights on the stories themselves, but also reconstructing the years of high school and adolescence in which the eclogues were written.

Three additional eclogues, previously unpublished but dating back to the same period of writing, have now been added to this new edition of the book:
The mermaid's reflection: it has a fairy-tale flavour, paying homage to Hans Christian Andersen and his acute use of metaphors.
The goldsmith's garden: it explores, through the image of a garden, the baggage of the past that we carry with us as life goes on, as we are moving from adolescents to young adults.
The palinody of love: it is a narrative through the voice of the sorceress Circe, who expresses her pain for the loss of Odysseus. The term ‘palinode’, present in the title, was used in ancient times by poets and authors when they wanted to retract a previously expressed view or opinion.
Each eclogue, including the new ones, is accompanied by a watercolour drawing by the author, which, in the hardcover edition only, will be visible in colour.
Finally, the book is now presented in three different formats: the paperback (with original cover and black and white internal drawings), ebook, and a new hardcover version, with new cover art by the author and colour interior drawings.
